This concluding blog post will discuss my final design exhibition products that are displayed below.
The first thing is my main poster and this design took a lot of research and experimenting in order to complete. From the beginning of this module, I wanted to incorporate the use of a single bright colour with a monochrome image as I love the effect this gives when done well. That is one of my favourite things about my design, as I have also continued the idea of the pink sketch onto all my other products. Another thing I like about my poster is the typography and how I have positioned some letters of words in different ways, using a variety of sizes, colours, and directions. My favourite bit of text is the word 'grunge' due to how the letters are going both vertically and horizontally. The idea of this type of typography was inspired mainly by designers that my presentation was on, such as David Carson and Neville Brody.
If I were to improve on my poster I would position the blocks of image on my poster differently in order to display more of the sketch design. I like how the sketch looks on my t-shirt design, when all of it is on display. Furthermore, I would want to look at ways I could show more of it, but still keep some of the image.
The next part of my press and promotions portfolio is the web banner that would be used on social media pages, such as Facebook and Twitter. To create this, I included the eye section from my poster, and repositioned the letters of the main title. I also included the words 'grunge display' horizontally on the right hand side. This is my favourite bit about the web banner due to the positioning of the 'L' in these words as I feel like the grunge style of the typography reflects the content of the exhibition.
The next part of my design exhibition is the badges/stickers and these also took a lot of experimenting with to finalise my designs. As the colour scheme of my press and promotions package is mainly monochrome, I wanted to create two black badges and two white. My favourite badges are the top two displayed, however my least favourite is the one on the bottom left. This is due to the composition of the badge and the positioning of the words that I don't like. The badge is quite busy and in my opinion, doesn't match the rest of the designs enough to be easily recognisable.
This is my t-shirt design and I have included a design for both the front and back of it. This is one of my favourite things I have created from this module and this is due to the simplicity of the design on both sides. After completing this sketch, I decided to not include the eyes because I didn't want to over-complicate the aesthetics - juxtaposing with the idea of grunge. I also included the words 'grunge display' to keep a connection with the exhibition itself.
Finally, here are my six web pages that took the longest to create out of everything from my press and promotions portfolio, however I am still very happy with how they turned out. I decided to create six, instead of five in order to display all the information I wanted too. My favourite page is the one based on designers and this is due to the composition and how the pictures work well together, with the text next to them. I'm also happy with the 'find us' page also due to the colours, composition and the overall layout. My least favourite design is the 'tickets' one and this is simply because there is a lot of text and no images. On the other hand, this does still work as this page should just be informative and useful to the users.
In conclusion, I feel that my press and promotions portfolio has been successful in working for the design exhibition that I have created and I am happy with the my overall products.
